Eunice was 8 years old when diagnosed with Blount’s disease. Her deformed legs were the result of weakened bones. Eunice’s parents appealed for help through their Ambassador to the U.N., and AIM eventually heard about her through the Rev. Danny Souder.
AIM approached Dr. Kurt Rathjen, an orthopedic surgeon at Baylor Hospital who solicited the help of his brother, Dr. Karl Rathjen, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Children’s Hospital and the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital.
With deepest thanks to Dr. Karl Rathjen and the surgeries he successfully performed, Eunice no longer needs a wheelchair or walker, and today walks completely unassisted.
